Gently down the stream

A look back

Today has been very pretty, good for walking.  And yes, the leaves are beginning to turn and a few have fallen, but on the hillsides where there aren't trees, it felt like a look back at summer.  There are still butterflies out there too, no blues but many browns and for flowers, huge numbers of the late flowering devilsbit scabious.  It's smaller and darker that the field scabious that has been out all summer round here, and I absolutely love it.

So this is my contribution to the pushing back of winter - appropriate on the day I first saw Ch******s decos in the shops.  In Primark I even saw an otherwise sane looking middle aged woman spending £3 on a little fabric Santa.  Oh, yikes!

Happy Thursday evening  xx
