Silly Perspective

This place has been leased by the National Trust since 2013. Fascinating place. Now the family are invoking a clause in the lease, and it is to be returned to them, becoming their eldest son's home. So after December 17th it will become a private place, no one like me snapping at the silver urn for a strange selfie.

Extras - a rather good sundial on the side of the church, and an 8th century Celtic cross. And a stained glass window commemorating the plague which devastated this village in 1665/66, when 250 of the villages succumbed to the pestilence. The new rector isolated them, so no-one left. Neighbouring villages left food at the edge of the parish. It must have been a horrifying 14 months. All started by the arrival of a damp cloth from London, hung by a fire to dry.
