Mono Monday: Entrance

This is the entrance to our local shopping mall from the underground garage.  I liked this because of the light, shadows and shiny bollards.  Bollards have become ubiquitous in the post 9-11 world, especially here in metropolitan D.C.  They are everywhere and have been put in to prevent vehicles from wreaking havoc on people and buildings.

Unfortunately, bollards would have done nothing to help the concert goers in Las Vegas.  We awoke to this dreadful news this morning and felt a bit of panic because our youngest son lives there.  We knew he would be at the hockey game at 5 pm and feared that he might have stayed and gone to the music festival afterward.  He did not, nor did any of the hockey players or the other hockey team organization members.  We are so grateful for that.  Every time I see these horrors, I get so angry.  Why does any individual need to own an automatic weapon?  They should be illegal and there should be no way to obtain them.  My heart is broken for the families of the victims.  When will enough be enough?
