Late Flowers

The long cool summer meant everything in the garden was late. We really wondered if the sunflowers would make it. As we went off to the UK two weeks ago the first touch of yellow was squeezing out of the bud.
Arriving home yesterday we were very happy to see that the two largest sunflowers were in bloom. This one is about three meters high, making it tricky to photograph but very impressive.
In the background is a hint of how far the autumn has advanced with several nearly bare trees.
As usual when I'm away visiting folks I don't manage to keep up-to-date with Blip so I have 7 picture to backblip. I'll put one of them up in a few minutes and then I'll add one every day until I'm back on track.
