The Living Mountain

During our recent 'Summer of walking' (Dolomites/Unst/CWT) I read, for the first time, Nan Shepherd's 1977 "The Living Mountain" - as pictured ...

... it was the perfect companion to our three expeditions, and I can't recommend it highly enough. It's quite unlike any other piece of nature-writing that I've come across.

During our CWT-exploits (whilst briefly in Ullapool) I actually managed to track down a copy of Shepherd's only poetry book - "In the Cairngorms" [1934] - and will blip my favourite poem from that tomorrow ;-)

Both books are well worth seeking out.
