Inchcolm Abbey Doorway

No church for the boys and no Sunday morning run for me.  We were having a day out with our friends L and R.  They had tickets for us all to go on a boat trip on the Forth.  We met them at South Queensferry before we  boarded our boat.

It was a beautiful morning and we had a really lovely sail out to Inchcolm Island where we got off to explore.  We explored the Abbey and the ruined war defences, and wondered why we had never got round to visiting before now.

We re-boarded a later boat, which took us on the rest of our journey under the three bridges.  The sun had disappeared by this part of the journey and the wind was chilly, so it wasn’t quite as pleasant as our outward journey.

We eventually got back to South Queensferry and went in search of a late lunch.  The first place we tried was full, but we got a table in the second place and we all had a lovely meal.

We headed home after a lovely day out with good friends, all feeling a bit weary, but BB found enough energy to do some homework before bed.

This is the doorway from the Chapter House to the Cloister at Inchcolm Abbey. I like the lovely old stonework, going green due to the damp.  The extras show a view over the Edinburgh, a building from the war and a view of the railway bridge from South Queensferry.
