Layers.....

This morning granddaughter Emily and her cousin Ella and I went to the movies. We saw the film “The Changeover” directed by New Zealanders and set in post-earthquake Christchurch.... mostly in what is known as “The Red Zone”. The lead actor is Englishman Timothy Spall. He was brilliant as the evil character “Carmody Braque”. The film is based on the book by the beloved Kiwi author, the late Margaret Mahy, and is well worth seeing.
This evening we drove to Picton to return Ella to her family. She’s a delightful child and good company for Emily.
Maisie and I had to walk the true right bank of the river early this morning. The recent fresh in the river has once again washed out the Omaka Ford and the river is presently impassable. The early sunlight turned the vineyards on the other side of the river to gold. Part of the Richmond Range is in the far distance. We met over 10 other dogs and their owners all enjoying the early morning.
