If you can't beat them...

Solace Day 10.

Turning point!   It was pouring down  when we would usually have started cruising so instead we stayed inside and listened to the F1 race from Sepang Malaysia.

When it had faired up we continued down the T & M canal until we reached the River Trent.  It is possible to continue down the river and in fact with the right VHF radios and the required licences onto the tidal river.   However time didn't permit this so we turned just before this "Pipe Bridge".  On the canal a pipe bridge consists of a loop of pipe a foot or less in diameter going over the canal.  Often attached to one of the other bridges.  This as you can see is in a different class altogether, requiring a large supporting structure.

The other feature of the last few miles were the broad locks, capable of taking two narrow boats side by side and depending on dimension up to 3 or 4 boats at one fill.
