Stepping Stones

I see these stepping stones nearly everyday and have always wondered about them. They go across the gloriously named Ahanagavanagh river (ford of the young cattle) and are just downstream from the bridge. The bridge is an old one so I guess these stones have been here for many centuries. You would need a fairly impressive leg span to get across (there are more that you can't see). The water was rich greens today - this bit of the river is tidal as it's almost at its mouth and the estuary. This is a good spot for seeing kingfishers, swans and herons. Earthdreamery blipped some rather impressive stones recently too.

Tonight's Arthouse if La Source des Femmes, set in north Africa about a group of women who get fed up with having to do all the hard work around the place, including collecting and carrying all the water. They withhold favours until the situation is remedied! I think this has been tried before!
