Heron Pool - backblip

We had intended to have a ride on the Churnett Valley steam railway.  Its website said that trains would be running all day until 4pm.  I packed a picnic and off we set into the Staffordshire Moorlands arriving at said railway station at 1.15 only to be told that the last train for the day had left at 1.05, dammit, should have telephoned before setting out..  However, after the initial disappointment and as the weather was so nice again we opted for a walk in the Consall Nature Park.  It was beautiful with spectacular views over to Derbyshire and lots of walks through gorgeous woodland which house some large fishing lakes.  Not a lot of nature about today apart from lots of Mallards, fish rising in the lakes;  one butterfly and a little Wren which whizzed past us at knee height.

We're heading back home tomorrow before the winds pick up.
