A postcard from Herefordshire!

Ophelia blew us all the way from home, over the Cotswolds, through Gloucester and into Herefordshire. At one point the sky was so dark and glowering that cars had their headlights on, with an eerie red sun appearing through breaks in the clouds (apparently due to Ophelia carrying Saharan sand and smoke from forest fires in Spain).

Arriving at Brockhampton Estate with its medieval moated manor house, the skies cleared, but boy was it blowing a hoolie! After filling a bag with pick your own apples from the orchard, it was on to Hereford for a stroll along the River Wye (battling against the wind), before visiting the cathedral, another magnificent Norman building.

From Hereford, it was only a short drive, dodging fallen branches, to our home for the next couple of days, Orchard Cottage...
