a lifetime burning

An unexpected discovery

Wandering around Minervois villages today, we turned a corner in La Caunette and came across this gorgeous beasty.  It is a Ford Taurus coupe - or, as it is better known in the UK, a Ford Cortina.

As Tom Robinson would have it:

"Wish I had a grey Cortina

Whiplash aerial, racing trim

Cortina owner - no one meaner

Wish that I could be like him"

This one is a well preserved metallic blue and lacking in a whiplash aerial, lettered windscreen or furry dice, but very fine indeed.  Its certainly the sort of car that Gene Hunt (Life on Mars) would have been happy to be seen in.

The weather has not been great here - but we've been having lots of relaxed fun in any event, and we've still not actually managed to make it to a degustation as yet ...
