Gulliver

It was minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit when I got up this morning, and the bird feeders needed refilling. Keeping them filled means I have to bring them inside during the night or the deer come into the yard and have a feast. Some nights they leave so many hoof prints in the yard that we wonder if they held a dance from dark to dawn. Occasionally we see them, but they usually sneak up when we have gone to bed.

Today Gulliver ventured out when I went to check on the feeders. Can you imagine how cold his bottom must have felt as he surveyed the neighborhood? It's a wonder he didn't freeze to the spot. We didn't have to persuade him to come back inside. The temperature has not gone above 4 degrees all day. I hear it is supposed to warm up to the 20s over the weekend. Heat wave!
