Government Information

We were contacted a wee while ago about taking part in the 2017 Scottish Health Survey.  It was first done in 1998 and has been done annually since 2008, to give the Scottish Office information about the nation's health and what needs doing to improve it.  Addresses are sampled at random, and today it was us!

The interviewer came, complete with laptop, scales, measuring tape, blood pressure monitor, sample pots and lots of paperwork!  Goodness, it was detailed!   We got questioned about our diet, exercise, illnesses, employment history, family health and general lifestyle for nearly two hours.  I was very pleased with my blood pressure and waist measurement, but not so happy to find out I seem to have lost an inch in height!

We were each given a £10 high street voucher for taking part.  In Orkney the only shop which accepts them is Boots, so we can go and top up our medicine cupboard - or perhaps buy some wonderfully expensive luxury bubble bath!
