Wilson Bridge, Copley

WEDNESDAY

I worked from home today and being short on steps and also inspired by Bezziepet's blip last Saturday, decided to take a 6km walk over the top and down through the woods to Copley.

I've blipped the Toll House here previously (back in 2013) but literally there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then.

The ancient 1831 bridge was damaged and then washed away following the Boxing Day Floods of 2015.

The replacement bridge, now just a pedestrian affair, was opened by the Mayor of Calderdale on 12 October. It has been named Wilson Bridge after the late Graham Wilson who lived in the adjacent Toll House for many years. Sadly Mr Wilson passed away shortly before the new bridge was completed.
