A time for everything

Birthday dinner

Monday
We knew there was rain forecast for today, but we had hoped it would just be light, with maybe a few dry intervals, and that we would be able to do a few of the shorter trails before heading back to Cincinnati in the afternoon. However, it started raining about 8 am and from the look of the sky and the really low clouds, it didn’t seem likely there would be any let up, so having checked out of the cabin, we just headed home. As we were driving, Laura called from Kuwait, to wish me a Happy Birthday, so I had a good chat with her. Had it been another day of the week other than Monday, we could have gone to the Art Museum or the Taft Museum, but they are closed Mondays! So in the end we went to the cinema in the late afternoon to see Columbus - a film about relationships set against the interesting architecture of Columbus Indiana. The critics had rated it very highly - we thought it was OK, but a bit on the slow side. After the film, we just had time to get back home, change and go down to Over the Rhine to a new (to us) restaurant, well reviewed in Cincinnati Magazine. This did not disappoint - the food was excellent. The photo, taken by a Roger, is not the best, but the only photo that was taken today. By this time, the rain had temporarily stopped, but the temperatures had really fallen during the day, and it was quite chilly - certainly feeling like autumn now!
