Seville

We flew to Seville today for a few days break.

The journey out was remarkably easy.  the EasyJet baggage drop at Gatwick – a fully automated do-it-yourself system – worked very effectively and quickly, with no queuing.  The flight was on time, the luggage delivered quickly and we walked out and straight on to shuttle bus for the relatively short distance to the city centre, with a short walk to our hotel.

The hotel we have found is very special.  It is in the Jewish quarter and consists of 27 houses all connected by narrow passageways, courtyards and an underground tunnel.  The houses were built between the 15th and 18th centuries, but the conversion into a hotel has been extremely well carried out, with modern electrics, bathrooms, cleverly incorporated lifts, all installed whilst retaining all the character and style of the original buildings. Every inch of space is decorated with potted plants or trees and it really is a very special environment. This hotel is a destination in itself and we have already spent some considerable time exploring its many hidden areas.  Its only downside is that the WiFi doesn’t penetrate everywhere, so this picture of the courtyard outside our room is back blipped.
