Puppy Pack...

Backblip

Today Lola and David went to Hermiston Braids in Edinburgh to meet up with two other families who have puppies from Lily's litter, so Lola got to see her brother Oscar and her sister Lexie.  Oscar brought along his housemate, a gorgeous Springer Spaniel called Bob.  Two other puppy owners should have been there but sadly couldn't make it on the day.  Our friend Carole (Lola's breeder) set up a Facebook group for all the puppy owners so the get together was all organised via the group.

It was a beautiful day and Lola was absolutely fine in the car, only a little bit sick once the car had stopped.

David was running a little late for the 2pm meet so phoned from the car and asked me to post a message on the FB group to let Craig and Melissa (the other puppy owner) know.  Craig responded leaving his mobile number suggesting David ring him once he'd got parked and they would find each other.  And there the fun began.

David got parked, checked his phone and saw Craig's message so he phoned and left a message on Craig's voicemail saying he'd received his message, had now arrived at agreed spot and parked.  He advised that he was in a black Audi and said he would get out of the car so he could be more easily spotted.  He finished the message by saying that for ease of recognition, he was wearing a blue woollen hat, and had a golden retriever with him.  David then changed into his dog walking shoes and got Lola out of the car.

A second later his mobile rang.  Craig's number.  Only it wasn't.  Craig had got his numbers transposed and it turned out David had left his message on the mobile of some random guy called Roger!

There followed a very confusing conversation with this guy wondering who the hell David was, how he'd got his number, and questioning his reason's for meeting.

David, adding to the confusion, thought Roger was a friend of Craig who had maybe answered Craig's phone if Craig was driving, and did his best to clarify what had happened but quickly realised his explanation that he thought he was phoning a guy called Craig who he only had contact with via Facebook and had he'd never met in real life before, but had arranged to meet up with to go walking in the woods with their dogs, didn't sound quite as reassuring as he would have liked!  He gave up, said sorry, I obviously have the wrong number, and hung up.

He checked the FB group to see Craig had left a further message full of apologies saying he'd given David the wrong number, and just at that Craig appeared with his wife Cathy and daughter, Oscar and Bob, quickly followed by Melissa, her two young sons and Lexie.  David told them what had happened and they all had a laugh about it.  It was a good ice breaker I think :D  I don't think poor David will ever live it down!

Whilst they were having a lovely afternoon in Edinburgh (Lola and a ball.  Apparently her and Lexie were really happy to see each other and played together beautifully) I had a lovely visit from Marion (Marion was Alan's first support worker and first met him in P1 where she was his Additional Support for Learning Assistant)  We had lots to catch up with and I don't think we stopped talking for three hours solid.  I know you will find that hard to believe :-))

David and Lola arrived home just as Marion was leaving, which was lovely as she got to meet Lola, who was very charming and more than willing to lie down and have her tummy tickled.

In the evening, Alan's friend Rachel's parents Janice and David (same Rachel he went ice skating with yesterday) visited to see the wet room that serves Alan's pool. They moved house recently and are about to start building work of their own to make the new house fully accessible for Rachel.  This involves creating a wet room.  They also have one of Lola's siblings, one of the boys who they named Ted.  This was the first time they'd met Lola and again she was very charming to them.  They were astounded by how alike Lola and Ted are.

It was lovely to catch up with them too and after another three hours of chatting, we all remembered why they were here and David took them to see the wet room.

Janice is hoping to organise a visit to their house for Lola and Ted to have a play date.  That will be great fun (Ted is way better trained than Lola!  EEK! )   Watch this space! :-))
