A Sea Of Flowers

Día de los Muertos brings huge changes to our market: streets closed to through traffic, stalls erected directly in front of existing businesses, and general chaos all the way around. Things were still being set up this morning as I traversed the recently converted area that usually courses with traffic of all kinds. I am drawn to the many, many flower stalls, each one more colorful than the next. Because they are all so similar, I concentrate more on the vendors behind the flowers rather than the flowers themselves. The flowers are certainly a component of every photo, but it is the people who make or break the shot. This woman was working industriously on cleaning and packaging bundles for the many buyers who will show up today and tomorrow to make purchases for their offends (the alters constructed to honor, and remember, those who have passed).
