Vantaa

The river Vantaa cascading over the weir at the Technology Museum. There has been a water power station generating electricity there since 1910, and apparently it's still in operation.

P and H very much enjoyed the trip up to Arabia on the number 8 tram, the wander around the design/craft shops, and then the walk over to the Technology Museum, which we hadn't previously visited. Afterwards, the only wrinkle, in our endeavours to get back into town, was a number 6 tram driving off before we had a chance to get on, after waiting for a woman with a pram to disembark. Weird. Rude.

Once eventually back in the city centre, there were drinks and rather substantial antipasti in Toni's Deli on Bulevardi, and then a visit to Stockmann with P, who was suitably impressed by the range of products you can procure in there (we were after nutcrackers).

Much earlier, there was an extended wander around the local parades, including a visit to Regatta and the Sibelius Moument.

Now we are home, chilling, drinking red wine, and I'm thinking about making some supper before it gets too late.
