Where the Light Gets In

A wonderful evening: I went to see my friend Jean-Baptiste (not portrayed here) play in  two of the four short plays by Octave Mirbeau his troupe were presenting tonight. This year is the hundredth anniversary of the playwright's death, and his last residence was the town where Jean-Baptiste lives. Incidentally, the theatre where they play is called Octave Mirbeau.

Here you see the commissaire de police (the person who is head of a station) trying to stop a burglary in the home of a rich lady. However, the burglar has such good manners and such charm that she asks the commissaire to leave...
