Nope, it's black walnuts laid out to dry.  Not sure how many days it's going to take to dry out the cases but once they do I can peel them off and start on the cracking of the walnuts.

A front is moving through that has the temperature dropping to more autumn like temps and rain coming in.  A good day to take all the cat bedding to the laundromat.  I swept all the leaves off the back porch and cleaned up the cats' play area, gathered all their bedding for washing.

I put out cat nip on their scratch mats and the scratch posts and the cats were happy and playing to their hearts' content.
