Helter Skelter

We've had a rather different day today as we've been to Middlesbrough on the train.  Although there is a local train, the service only operates at peak times and then in the middle of the day, so we thought we might be hanging around too long in Middlesbrough.  So we caught the train from Saltburn, which took us along the coast and past the industrial wrecks of the Tees estuary, which was not without interest.  And there are two trains an hour.  Anyway I was pleased we did, the tide was almost in when we reached Saltburn and the waves were magnificent and actually glinting in some sun (the forecast had been for cloud, which is what happened for most of the day).  We headed for the new art gallery, thinking we'd have lunch and then a look at the gallery.  Well the vegetarian lunch was really good (highly recommended) but the gallery was closed because it's Monday!!  Do the  London galleries close on a Monday I find myself asking.
We then went shopping and got everything we had on our list, including new Crocs for Ann and another warm thermal vest for me.  Oh and for the first time we indulged in an M&S £10 meal for two with the help of one of the assistants, so we have salmon steaks, new potatoes, chocolate pudding AND a bottle of white wine, which the wonderful shop assistant chose for us saying that the one she'd chosen was really good and though it didn't appear on the list of `wines in the deal' it would go through the till as part of the £10 deal.  What a bargain.   We're back now with the fire lit.  Theatre tomorrow night.

p.s. and as an after-thought a comment on todays blip, which is ten images combined using the Pep Ventosa technique of the Helter-Skelter they were erecting near the art gallery.  We wonder if it will be part of a Christmas fair but are not sure.  Unfortunately it still had a metal barrier around it, but I felt it wasn't too noticeable.  I think it would look at it's best as the light fades  with the lights lit, but we're unlikely to see it.  Still, I was quite pleased with what I got.
