An ordinary life....

The Almost Octogenarian...

A morning spent ironing for me with David trying to get organised for getting away for the weekend.

When David is away we need 24 hour care for Alan and this was all sorted out over a month ago, however we should know by now that life is never straightforward and since the support worker cover was organised, we are now three support workers down.  Two unavailable and one pregnant so not able to work a shift on her own.  This has posed a bit of a headache but I think we have it sorted now.

In addition puppy trainer friend Shona who is taking Lola while David is away, is having a new kitchen fitted this weekend and they are running behind so will be working in her kitchen all weekend.  She currently has no floor in her kitchen, no running hot water and is living out of one room using a microwave.  The poor love is still taking Lola from tomorrow till Saturday and I am eternally grateful.  She was meant to take her till Sunday but Ele will be here on Saturday so I can have her back.

Stepdad John and Norma arrived for an early birthday celebration.  John will be 80 tomorrow.  I can't quite believe it.  After spending time with Alan and Lola in Alan's disco room (yes the lights were swirling and the music playing from lunchtime today :-) we had a quick catch up then took him and Norma out for lunch.  His proper birthday pressie is a lovely day out in the spring followed by dinner in a great restaurant.

This evening I have spent hours trying to place a Tesco order online but the site kept closing down.  Very frustrating.  Finally got it done.  Here's hoping the whole order has gone through!

I don't want to speak too soon, but I think we can say we now have a fully toilet trained puppy.  I know you're not meant to say that until there's been no accidents indoors for three months, but she now consistently barks at the door when she wants out and is always successful once out.  Hoping the break in her routine this weekend won't disrupt things.
