the early bird

As the year turns, the sun rises over different horizons and its light comes in through different windows of the house. At breakfast time in November, the sunrise is in the south east and its low pale rays shine through the leafless trees of the small wood.Just for a short time, they also throw shadows of the birds feeding on the fat balls. I've been trying to capture them on camera for a few days now and at last, here they are.

A sunny day with bright blue sky, so D and I took Jess for a walk up Newtonairds Hill, then back for some lunch and to light the fire. From here I can see the flame-like leaves on the cherry tree in the front garden. Its branches are usually bare  by the middle of November so this is a treat...think I'll nip out now and get some photos before they all disappear..
