New Regent Street, Christchurch

We made it here safely, though we have no idea what day it is or even if we are standing on our heads:-). Travelling for so long on one flight after another is a nightmare and we should have arranged it better.

Many of the others on this tour stayed in Singapore for 3 nights or included a week in Thailand and they are not as jet lagged as we are. We’ll know another time - if ever there is one!

It didn’t help that we had a screaming baby on the flight from Heathrow to Singapore. Her fraught parents tried everything to keep her quiet, but at 9 months old, she may have been teething or suffering from pressure on her eardrums and was obviously distressed. We were all very sympathetic, but after several hours of this could happily have chucked her off the plane. Lack of sleep makes monsters of us all:-)

Our hotel for the next two nights just happes to be righr actoss the road from New Regent Street, one of the prettiest streets in Christchurch we heard the driver of the old tram tell his passengers. Blip sorted and I didn’t have to look far, A delicious authentic Italian pizza at a nearby restaurant and a five minute stroll and that’s us for today.

We start with a walking tour of the city in the morning, so must get a good night’s sleep. We have been advised that the best way to deal with jet lag is to stay awake until our usual bedtime, but as that is about 10.30pm and it’s only 7.30 pm now, I can’t see us lasting out that long:-)

Hope tomorrow’s blip will be a bit more coherent!
