Life in Sunny Dubai

First time ever!

Big day for G today - her birthday! She was up and getting ready for the day, so I made tea for a change and gave her her card and present. Then a quick hour at work, earlier than normal for a Wednesday, but good she was able to do that, as I have been invited to my very first Thanksgiving lunch today by our pastor and his wife!

It had to be today rather than tomorrow because both G & Pam are busy on a Thursday afternoon doing children's church. We got there for 1 and it was great that the youth pastor was there with his family. His son Paul kept us all entertained!

The lunch itself was fantastic. Delicious. Great food and company, and I was very thankful for so many things, but most of all, that there is still so much light in the world, hence the candle as the central image. We watch the movie The Princess Bride after lunch. A classic American film, first time I saw it. It was entertaining...

We left around 6 and raced home to do a quick change, as we had a dinner engagement (yikes!) with Roberto! SweetArt's friend from HK who has very kindly carried back presents and Christmas cake for us! Roberto got to experience the delights of Chicken Tikka Inn which he loved. Hours flew and we had to get a move on, as I wanted to call in at the Spice Souk on the way back to dropping Roberto off.

We took a chance... Parked at the multi-storey on the Creek and found just one shop open. It had just gone past 11! Got SweetArt the frankincense, myrrh and saffron. Goodies secured, so we headed back to take in the views from the top, and I *think* I managed to get a couple of decent night shots of the dhows being loaded.

Think we were all really tired and ready to push out the zzzzzz's... so late, but a really good and happy day.
