The story of the lamp

This one definitely deserves some attention in our life. I don't remember if I have written about our masterminded architectural high ceiling lamp place which no one can reach. Anyway, the company that did the other lights for us said it would be 200€ extra to get the high one installed. There was just wires hanging like with any other place that was meant for a lamp.

So we said no. We'll figure it out. Hide it with some decorations or something. So now with my father-in-law here he thought that we should get it fixed. Thus beginning a saga of the lamp. (They had just spent a better half of 3 days making the doorbell ring. It was constructed incorrectly.)

So we borrowed a ladder from a friend. Then they started to work out how to reach to the ceiling which is in 6 meters. The top picture on left you can still see the wires hanging down. After a lot of work and some scary moments we'll see the lamp hanging from the ceiling. It looks nice and neat. The wires are covered with a cone which you actually can't see in the picture, but it looks good. White cone covering the part that would have been too difficult and dangerous to saw away at that height.

But the lamp doesn't work. There isn't any switch in the house that is connected to that lamp! Don't know if you remember that only 2 outlets worked out of the whole electrical works of the house when they said the house was ready to move in. So clearly all the electrical work has been done very shitty from the start.

Naturally we can go to the builders office and just tell this and they'll have to fix it, but Finnish men they just don't give up. They want to continue to make it work themselves tomorrow when the daylight returns. (Well, it's gonna be a cloudy rainy day, but some daylight still available I guess.)

Even still the lamp - even if it doesn't work - looks much better than just the wires hanging down, so this is very good even as it is. I would have been happy with just some covering decorations.

I might have some nightmares about how scary this project was. And I hope the men will find less intimidating projects for the following week. This was clearly  one application to the Darwin awards.
