Cold Day In The Sun

It a was gloriously sunny day today in the Lakes and we had a plan to complete the remaining three Wainwrights of the Northern Fells, Great Sca Fell, Knott and Meal Fell.
This was the view from the cairn at the highest point. The sun sparkling on the icy grass , and the cold air were breathtaking.
We met an old farmer who was out looking for his friend's walking stick which he had left up there three weeks ago. It was a proper wooden stick with a curvy handle 'not one of them things ' he said , looking a bit disparagingly at our brightly coloured carbon fibre, folding high tech walking poles. He was hoping to find it sticking up in the ground where his friend had left it despite the howling wind there has been for several days. He reckoned we could drop it in to Keswick post office if we found it. We didn't. And we didn't know how to contact the man and tell him if we had. Still Keswick isn't a big place I'm sure word would have got round.
Couple of extras too. Some big icicles where the water was seeping through a ridge of peat, and the gorgeous golden evening light as we were coming back down to Uldale
