Life in Sunny Dubai

Marsa Al Seef

[This is my new offering for the Architecture Cultural blip challenge.]

After a challenging day trying to get to grips with social media (mainly trying to prepare Instagram posts on a laptop first), G & I finally ventured out just before 5pm. G had spent a lot of the day having a big sort out in her room (see last extra). She is the Master at Work, and it's just as well she did that today because she came across some birthday cards we bought in the summer which I needed today.

So we dropped in at Diane to deliver her birthday present and an Advent calendar. It's a long-standing tradition! That done, we headed over to the newly re-developed Al Seef. First time in years that we've been able to see the views in the two other extras. I have to admit, I have missed it!

So, we were pretty mad at the government making changes on the Bur Dubai side of the Creek, and a lot of it doesn't really fit, but if you keep walking westwards, you eventually come to the area where the redevelopment is done in the style of the old merchant houses. They're not built using the same material (coral), but they are finished off to look authentic, except they've added a good amount of electricity and all the other benefits that come with it!

We ate at a restaurant picked quite randomly with views of the Creek. Great views and there was a cool breeze. Back home via Jumeirah (yes) to have masala tea and to see people showing off their specially decorated cars for National Day. (We didn't see any).
