Turku Christmas craft fair

We took it easy this morning after last night's high jinks at Gunilla's birthday party. This afternoon, however, we popped out for a wander around a Christmas craft fair (blipped), and a visit to the art gallery.

There were lots of lovely homemade items on offer at the craft fair. I was especially taken by the hand-knitted mittens in traditional designs (but didn't buy any because I have plenty of pairs of gloves already). The pieces in the Turku Art Museum were also interesting. When we first arrived there it dawned on us how little we know about Finnish art. We were able to start rectifying this by visiting an extensive exhibition of the work of Tyko Sallinen.

This evening we enjoyed some fabulous sushi for supper at a small restaurant quite close to the hotel. We hope to return there later in the week, most likely on Tuesday evening.

We also saw LyndseyJ and Chris briefly this morning after breakfast. It sounds like their journey here was somewhat more eventful than ours. My prediction that their luggage would probably not arrive at the same time as them (due to very tight connections) was right. However, as I also predicted, their cases were soon delivered to the hotel today.

Exercise today: a little walking (6,892 steps)
