The kite counters

Back Blip.

The A34 between Oxford and Newbury is where we see red kites. Their languid flight, long and narrow wings - very different to those of a buzzard - and distinctive forked tails mark them out.

Numbers have varied between zero and twelve on a trip. Today we saw five.

The sky looked wintry today, with a low sun hazy through the thin cloud as we headed south.
