Disposing the engine at end of service

On duty at Wittersham Road signal box on the KESR Railway Santa Specials. The day went rather better than anticipated as when I got up this morning it was snowing hard. By the time I arrived at Wittersham the clouds had lifted, the snow had gone to be replaced by a severe gale.

The winds blew in sharp squalls which rattled the box window, making the box very cold despite having both fires on full blast and several hot drinks.

By the end of the day the winds had calmed and believe it or not, Bearsted, 22 miles to the north had no winds at all
