Christmas is Coming!

Some of the Christmas lights and decorations are up, Miss L is transfixed by The Snowman and the Snowdog, we've tested the Aldi half-the-price Baileys to check that it meets our Irish cream liqueur standards and we've opened the mince pie flood gates by sampling the Aldi fake Tesco Finest mince pies.
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!
Yesterday we had an email from Miss L's school to say that they were going to be closed today. I know they can't leave it to the last minute because people have to make childcare arrangements but it did seem a bit defeatist not to even contemplate clearing the drive and putting down a bit of grit.
We had an email from Miss E's school to say that they would be open as usual and the head had been out shovelling snow!!
Just saying.
Miss E was a bit miffed - especially when it turned out that every school within a fifty mile radius is closed today - but I told her as they'd made the effort to open then we could make the effort to go.
She was obviously over the moon when we went outside to discover one tyre completely flat and the other obviously on its way down too.
And even more giddy to hear that the garage couldn't do anything about it until tomorrow due to the snow.
My mum and I had planned to go to Canon's Ashby today to see the house decorated for Christmas but they were closed due to the snow.
When did we stop doing anything when it gets a bit snowy and icy???
So it was a very lazy, unproductive day at home. Mostly watching Alvin and the Chipmunks and roller skating around.
I did manage to get the decorations out of the garage and get some of them out.
The rest of the boxes formed a great obstacle course for the rollerskating!
Emails from schools in the afternoon. One to say that they are going to be closed again tomorrow,  and one to say they are going to open at 11am, that it wasn't necessary to wear uniform and that we shouldn't travel if we felt it was at all unsafe.
