An Invasion of Crows

Just as we were leaving the house to run some errands, a remarkable number of crows descended on our neighborhood, shrieking and carrying on enough to bring people outdoors. "They're all over my backyard," cried the woman across the street. And more and more kept swarming in from other parts of town. They were on the lawns and on the wires, hanging in trees and covering rooftops, squawking and jumping and flapping. Hundreds. And then they were gone.
