Life's Little Moments

Tiny Chickadee

There is a brief period each summer after the chickadees have fledged their young when they all disappear into the woods for several weeks.  I've never known why they do that but assume it's to teach their youngsters survival skills.  The other 11 months of the year, these cute little birds are daily visitors to our feeders.  They are quite friendly and easily approached.  That said, I find them tricky to photograph because of the sharply contrasting black and white heads.  Invariably, either the white is overexposed or the black is underexposed, rendering the eyes invisible.  This photo would have been better if I'd either lowered the ISO or dropped the exposure comp by a point or so.  However, it's good enough for today.

Besides, who better to remind everyone to tag your TinyTuesday entries with #TT134, than an tiny little chickadee?  And remember that the theme this month is "seasonal" - you may interpret that in a number of ways, so be sure to have some fun with it.

Photos delivered to the store owner this morning - happy to say he was very pleased.  And while there, I stocked up on all kinds of goodies for the birds.  On the way home, a nice visit with MIL.  There was a choral group there singing Christmas carols so she and I had some fun singing along.  She had no memory of being here yesterday, but was happy every time I told her.

Slightly warmer temps today, reaching into the low 40's F so the snow is melting around the yard.    And tomorrow will be in the high 40's which will certainly feel good after the last frigid week!

Thanks for stopping by...
