Husky

In his prime, Flash would no doubt have made an excellent sledge dog. He is about double the size he ought to be for a Border Collie.

Yesterday he had again overdone things a bit when visitors were here, galloping around to round up the chickens before they left and prior to that hanging on the rear fetlocks of horse Rosie when she carried the children around the sand school. He was there to nip her the moment she even considered getting a bit stroppy.

He continues to dumbfound us with his will to live but it is an hour to hour, day to day blessing to have him around even if it does mean extra work for us.

I let him out this morning around 7:00 he tottered out in to the snow to do his morning inspection but I kept an extra eye out as he seemed a bit less sturdy on his pins. And sure enough, when he didn't return in the normal time, went out and found him lying in the snow and looking as though he simply hadn't been able to get back up.

However later when we did the walk on which today's photo was taken, he was back on form, enjoying the snow and even having a short tug of war with Luna over a stick.

As one can see, snow has returned but I am not even making a pretence at clearing it even though it might get to the level where I would normally be out with the snow blower. By the weekend we are getting a heat wave and forecasted +13°C on Sunday.
