Big Waves at Carskey Bay

7.3C and after storm Dylan had blown through mostly bright with some squally showers in the morning and more showers forecast for later. Wind SW/WSW/W/WSW to 46 mph with gusts to 62 mph (the sustained period of gusts over 50 mph from 5am to 12noon was storm Dylan).

Grocery shopping.

Went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach and Kiel to Carskey Bay. Big waves were crashing in all the way from Dunaverty round to Carskey so there were no seals to be seen today.

At Carskey we walked along to the far end and came back again along the path at the back of the beach with the last little bit back on the beach itself. The tide was high and the waves were driving up the beach once they had broken on their way into shore. The sea was spectacular. Fergus was off his lead and rushed about at top speed frequently disappearing into the dunes grasses. We had to run up the beach once or twice to get away from waves which just kept coming up the sandy slope. All in all an exhilarating and enjoyable walk.
