Feeling Grateful

Not the most fun photo of the night, but the one that shows everyone that was there for our New Year's meal, though you can hardly see Sr Zé, behind the priest. (The empty place was for D Nazaré, whose brother had just died suddenly and was too sad to come. The dish in the foreground was three crabs she'd prepared and sent.) It also shows the rather grand dining room here in this flat - not my style at all, but grateful for the privilege of having lived here this year.

I am so grateful for these friends, who really have become precious to us, though we've known each other for less than a year. Am also grateful that two of our kids, plus fiancée, could be there - they were great additions. Two of the priest's dogs, Sultão and Peruças, were also in on the proceedings.

It was a good evening, even with the struggle with feeling rough, really rough. And then, not bed, but a drive to Lisbon... see next post.
