Like a duck to water

This tiny soapstone bowl and duck-headed spoon (the duck head is about 1.5 cm long) is a replica of one of the tools a Chinese scholar could have on his or her desk. The water was necessary to make the ink used for calligraphy, scholars would make their own ink by grating an ink stone and then diluting it with water. In the old days the material of the bowl and spoon would be jade. These are souvenirs we brought back from Beijing in the early 90s.  For Tiny Tuesday with thanks to Carol/ThisisLife, who is hosting this month and has set the theme for today on 'the animal kingdom'.

Thanks very much for your kind comments and stars for yesterday's interior mono and the AT results.
