A Balti in Brick Lane

We were up early, for us at this time of year, to queue for day tickets at the South Bank National Theatre. After 45 minutes we arrived at the front of the queue and there were tickets for Pinocchio, our preferred choice.
Tickets safely in hand we headed for the Whitechapel Gallery to meet our friends Monica and Andy, and were very happy to also see their daughter Corinne. We were less impressed than usual with the gallery but that is the nature of the changing exhibitions.
Round the corner to Brick Lane and a great choice of Asian restaurants. We landed in the Preem Balti House, slightly intrigued  by the photocopied newspaper article from the Swedish "Dagens Nyheter".  It turned out we had chosen a restaurant owned and run by an Asian who had started his European life in Stockholm and owned several restaurants there. He was very happy to speak Swedish with us. So there we were, two British Swedes, one German, one Asian Swede, and two Brits (who have both lived in Germany), all meeting up in an Indian restaurant in London!  I love the multicultural life!
Continuing the multicultural theme that evening we used our National tickets to see Pinocchio, a British musical that is an interpretation of a Disney film, which is based on an Italian book.
Like it or not, this is the world we live in, so let's embrace it and make the world a better place for all in 2018!
