Day 004/18. Dinosaurs are amongst us.....

This is an Emerald Tree Monitor, a native of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea rainforests. They are about 1 metre long with prehensile tails and long claws to enable them to be super efficient climbers.
To me this photo shows them more akin to a Velociraptor from Jurassic Park. Good job in reality they are only 1 metre long !!
One of the advantages of living just a few miles from Marwell Zoological Park is that I can whip around there for a post lunch walk...... and today, this chap posed for me. Extra photo today is the climbing gear.....
