The Artist

The artist has so many ideas
going on inside his head, that
it is impossible to keep
all of them under his hat.

They bubble away in the heat
of his brain, rising
to the surface,
desperate to be of service.

He politely raises the hat,
doffs the cap
to the Lord of Creativity,
and lets some of them escape.

Days, weeks, months,
sometimes years later,
on canvas, and on paper,
they take shape, and live, maybe forever.
