Orchids, Opticians & Other things

There are only a few buds left to open on my orchid - soon it will be in full flower: such an uplifting sight! Tonight is our last evening to enjoy the Christmas lights before we lose their twinkle to Twelfth Night's dismantling. Shall really miss them on gloomy days.

Today's been a mixture of weather. At last, the wild winds have calmed - the silence is wonderful! And we've had deluging rain, hail that outlined every edge in white, and bright sunshine, too. The mixed bag of good and bad continued as we went to a very pleasant 'At home' event, enjoying good company, mulled wine and nibbles. This was followed by an eye test for me that resulted in a referral to a specialist opthalmist. About the latter, I'm trying to think positively: if my eyes are showing the first signs of glaucoma, then better it's caught early; if it's a false alarm, at least I shall have reassurance. Either way, the waiting list is around four months, so no point worrying ahead of time. Just means I may be joining my late father and both siblings in the eye-drops routine, but feeling thankful such treatments are available.

Many thanks for so many lovely comments, stars and hearts for my abstract yesterblip. And thanks to Anni (BikerBear) for continuing to host the Flower Friday challenge.
