A train journey in the rain

Today we arrived at the port in Semarang, Java and took the first of our organised tours.  TO be honest we were a little disappointed and not entirely because of the very heavy downpour that ended the afternoon:  We were supposed to visit the antique train museum at Ambarawa, take a train ride to Tungtang to visit the Tlogo Agro coffee plantation and return home via a rather impressive Chinese temple.  For unknown reasons the temple was put first on the agenda, so by the time we reached the train museum, there was no time to visit before our journey.  At this point the heavens opened and so the visit to the plantation was curtailed as it was far too wet an slippery to walk around the grounds!
We made the best of it though and the train ride was enjoyable if damp.  My picture is taken from the carriage window and you can see one of the many dwellings along the trackside, with carp farms at the back and rice fields at the front.  Not a very comfortable way to live I imagine, but these poor  conditions are the lot of the majority of the Indonesian people.

Playing catch up with my journal: internet restrictions mean I can't always get a good run at posting things!
