day 3

A special birthday, 60 today. Greeted with a wake up call and delivery of coffee and a card from Siwandu staff, then the opening of my cards from home. Another surprise present from Lesley, a family lunch at Fischers in Baslow when we get home. Nice !

Out on a safari drive sharing a birthday with the bush animals and at one point having 50+ Carmine Bee-eaters flying around the Land Rover as we drove and disturbed insects and grasshoppers for them to feed on the wing. This afternoons drive ended in another surprise, instead of the ordered G&Ts at sundown Mpoto opened a bottle of champagne and a message from my work team :-)

Then for a delicious meal back at camp, complimentary wine from the travel agent  and the end of the perfect birthday.
