Church with a view

Took Mum to church this morning and had a good service.
The church was founded in the 6th century and the present building dates from 1523 and was extensively restored in 1844 by the architect, Gilbert Scott. The views from it are wonderful, the extra looks up Borrowdale but Skiddaw is also well seen from the other side.
We then had a short drive up Borrowdale before going for lunch at The Coledale, very friendly and good food.
Mid-afternoon we had to start home, at least we didn't have rain to contend with.
If you've missed the few back blips form the Lakes I do think they're worth a look - but I would say that, wouldn't I, being biased?!
