Keeping warm

The temperature has plummeted here and everywhere we went people were attempting to keep warm over fires made from a few sticks.Went to a small village of people who had been repositioned by the government from the hills where they used to produce opium to a lower land farming area.Their homes looked extremely basic and the women made handicrafts which they and their children attempted to sell to passing tourists.
This evening we were taken to a temple where we were given a blessing traditionally made to visitors and locals on the occasion of weddings, births etc. This involved much chanting, having our wrists tied with cotton threads and eating local sweets. An unforgettable experience.
