Chain Gang

There was more snow overnight, although the disruption to life in the City was minimal, just a bit of watching the slippy mushy bits on the pavements. Gritting seems to be a bit spasmodic in its application on the walkways for pedestrians.

Not that I had far to walk to have coffee with two friends from my old alma mater this morning. Since the Hub Café was out of action, we holed up in the National Library for two and a half hours where we seemed to be entertaining people at adjacent tables with tales of belongings tidied away over Christmas and now nowhere to be found and lost car keys found in the fridge. Such is life with bus pass owners, although otherwise we are as sharp as tacks. You have to believe me.

This image of scaffolders working on the old Royal Infirmary as it is converted into the new Edinburgh University Business School caught my eye this afternoon. It reminded me of the iconic photo of the workers on the bridge in New York.
