Golden Thumb

We visited the Pompidou Center this afternoon. The thumb in the main blip is from an exhibition of works  by César (1921-1998)--we plan to see it later (note the lady photographers reflected in the thumbnail :)  We mainly viewed an exhibition of André Derain (1880-1954), which  focused on his radical development in the decade from 1904 to 1914--above all his part in the Fauve movement (alongside Henri Matisse). It was yet another top-notch experience; we have really been spoiled with terrific exhibitions since we arrived in Paris two weeks ago.   As always the view from the top level of the Pompidou was wonderful, mostly  cloudy with some brief rain--thus the misty look of the extra with the Eiffel Tower, the golden dome of the Invalides, and cranes; I  love the muted colors.
